Operator Cab

Suspended outboard of the slew tower, facing the jib so the operator sees the trolley and the load directly. Glazed on three sides with an unobstructed view arc.

← Back to crane parts

The cab is where the operator sits. On a flat-top crane it hangs outboard of the transition section, on the jib side, so that the line of sight to the trolley and the hook is as short and as direct as possible.

Construction

Welded steel frame with tempered glazing on three sides, an outward-opening or sliding door, and a floor window for looking straight down at the load. It carries the operator seat, the console with the two joysticks, the load moment indicator display and the air-conditioning unit.

Role on the machine

Beyond shelter, the cab position defines the operator's working arc: the load must stay visible from pick-up to set-down without the operator leaning out. The glazing and the wiper arrangement therefore matter as much as the seat for cycle time and for safe blind lifts.

Inspection and maintenance

  • Check the suspension pins and the anti-sway tie between the cab and the tower.
  • Inspect glazing for cracks and confirm the wiper and washer work.
  • Verify the load moment indicator, the emergency stop and the communication link each shift.
