Safety Rope / Lifeline
Fall-protection lifeline used by personnel working at height on the crane.
← Back to crane parts
The safety rope, or lifeline, is the fall-protection line used by personnel who work at height on the crane during erection, inspection and maintenance.

Construction
A braided steel-wire rope or high-strength synthetic line with rated end connectors and, where required, a fall-arrester. Rated, marked and supplied with its certification.

Role on the crane
It gives people a secured anchor point while they work at height and arrests a fall if one occurs, so maintenance can be carried out with proper fall protection.
Inspection and maintenance
- Inspect for cuts, fraying, wear and corrosion before every use.
- Check connectors, anchors and the arrester for correct function and rating.
- Replace after any fall, or at the maker's service interval; never improvise or repair.
